3 reasons why men seek testosterone replacement therapy

According to a 2007 study published in the peer-reviewed Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1 out of 4 men age 30+ has low testosterone. Estimates project that by 2025, as many as 65 million American adult males will be living with symptomatic hypogonadism.

Among the many reasons why men seek out TRT, the following three issues tend to be the most commonly cited among our patients (as well as in the research):

Erectile Dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a multi-factorial men's health issue often caused by low levels of testosterone. Men with ED find it difficult to achieve or maintain an erection, which can cause a significant amount of emotional distress. Men with low testosterone may also experience fewer spontaneous erections and struggle with fertility.

Decreased Energy

A general feeling of sluggishness and tiredness is a common reason why a man becomes interested in TRT. Finding the motivation to work out can seem impossible — which often adds to the frustration. Why? Because low testosterone is often associated with reduced muscle mass and strength. To further compound the problem of fatigue, many men with low testosterone also experience changes in their sleep patterns and emotions. For instance, some men struggle with falling or staying asleep. They may also experience difficulties in concentration and mood regulation.

Decreased Libido

For many men with low testosterone, their sex life still experiences a hit, even if they aren't dealing with obvious erectile dysfunction issues. The reason? Lowered libido (sex drive) is a common consequence of hypogonadism. This can have a dramatic impact on both the man's mental health and his relationship with a partner or spouse.
